Releasing first build.


Hello everyone!

I'm excited to finally announce the first public release of "Attack from Above" - a retro inspired 3D helicopter combat game where you take on missions across a fully destructible, block-based world.

If you played of old-school games like Desert Strike or Jungle Strike, this game might feel familiar but with a twist of looking like Minecraft. You’ll fly into danger zones, deliver cargo, rescue prisoners, strike enemy targets, and destroy or rebuild the terrain, all from the cockpit of your gunship.

What's in the Game Right Now

This early version of the game includes:

    A full 3D, low-res aesthetic with a top-down isometric camera

    Fully destructible terrain and chunk-based rebuilding

    A small mission set on a single map (for now)

    A variety of objectives: combat, search-and-rescue and escort

AI-Assisted Development

This game was developed in about a month with the help of ChatGPT, which I used as coding assistant.

Starting from scratch I used ChatGPT to help me design and write several core systems. Here's a quick list of major features it helped bring to life:

    The entire mission and objective system

    A destructible terrain engine using block-based chunks

    Map Editor with Save/Load system that works even in WebGL builds to generate map.

Of course, AI generated code isn't magic - you still need to analyze, test, refactor, and often fix things it forgets or misnames. But the productivity boost was real. It allowed me to build something playable and fairly complex in a short time.

What’s Next?

This is still an early work-in-progress:

    There's only one playable stage right now

    Some systems (like the UI) need a lot of polish

    Game balance is very rough

    Features like enemy AI, missions, and proper menus are still in development

I have a long list of things to add, and I’d love your feedback to shape the direction of the game.
